Be wild and stand out from the pack

Stay A Wildflower is an innovative content creation business that specialises in photography and social media management.

After 3 years, as a full-time florist specialising in dried and preserved arrangements, business owner, Megan Pritchard, transitioned the business into a new field of creativity.

Megan shares the name of the business, Stay a Wildflower, “came up with it because I loved the saying "Stay A Wild Child" and the whole retro, 70"s vibe, it was how I wanted to brand my business. Obviously, the first 3 years were to deal with floral things so I changed it to wildflower).”

She started her florist shop in June 2020 and then ended it in January 2023 where she transitioned into social media in April 2023.

Megan explains the reason for the transition was “I wanted to go into helping businesses with their social media because I know first-hand what it's like running a business full-time and then giving your all into social media to stand out to your clients and new customers.”

“It was exhausting and back then there really wasn't much help out there. Fast forward to now, everyone has to have a social media account to stand out to competitors but not everyone can do it - That's where I come in. I want to help those who are struggling and I've created packages to suit everyone's needs and budgets.” she adds.

While she works solo in her business, Megan gives lots of credit to her family, “I have had massive help from my Husband and my mother who made sure when the going got tough, I wasn't alone.”

“There were so many late nights and early mornings Where I couldn't have done it without them. I also should credit all the friends out there that helped me move, worked for free labour and did deliveries when drivers were unavailable.”

In terms of events, Stay A Wildflower has covered “Event styling, weddings, Valentine's Day and Mothers day”

If Megan could give any advice about social media, it would be “Be creative, don't be afraid to stand out.”

Going forward with her business, “Right now, I'm very content with how business is sitting being a mother of two beautiful babies. It's flexible. . But In the future when they become more independent I would love to have my own Photoshoot studio that caters for many types of businesses.”

“I'd love to hire staff to expand my business such as graphic designing and website building. I also would love to learn more in videography as reels and tiktoks take over, learn more editing skills and grow my equipment.”
