Taking millinery to the next level

Milano Imai is a race fashion enthusiast, judged of numerous on Fashions on the Field competitions and creator of Millinery Market.
She created Millinery Market in 2017 after realising there wasn’t a ‘one stop shop’ to find hats from many different milliners in one place, along with the option to purchase or hire a hat.
It also gives a place for race enthusiasts to sell their preloved millinery.
The online store has the world’s largest selection of hats and fascinators with shoppers being able to browse over 2,000 hats listed by 170 more milliners.
Race enthusiasts can discover new milliners they haven’t heard of or worked with before and can even see a Milliner Directory which highlights different milliners design style, location, price point etc for those who wish to get a bespoke hat made.
Milano explains some customers like to buy hats outright and keep them in their hat collection and others like the option to rent, hat-renting hats is a great way to be able to wear a variety of different hats to each race meet.
Milano has always had a passion for fashion and has been entering Fashion on The Fields competitions for over 10 years and have won several sashes over that time.
She shares recently, I was named the QLD state representative in the Myer Fashions on Your Front Lawn Competition which was a total dream come true.
I have been asked to judge at many Fashions on The Field events within Australia and internationally.
It has allowed me to visit many new race clubs and meet and get to know the ladies in my Facebook community who are all over Australia.
Racing fashion has such a community vibe, everyone seems to know everyone and when a newbie starts out in Fashions on The Field, the seasoned ladies love to take them under their wings.
I have judged at Cairns twice now, in August I judged at the Cairns Cup Carnival and in 2018.
