Halloumi, howdy Walkerz,

How are you? Thanks for stopping by and visiting,

When I first started this blog, 1 of the things I really wanted to share was my experience with my communications degree, so here we are,

For all of you that don't know, I, Wilz is an online communications student with the University of South Australia. I started my studies in April of 2018 and hope to graduate next year, but my main aim in taking this course was to better my communication skills and to pursue a career in working with companies/brands and to hopefully work in the PR,

I don't know if I have shared this story on the blog before but in picking a course, I scribbled down on a piece of paper, what my passions are, and from there I tried to pick a course that would take in most of my passions, for myself, I really enjoy writing, photography, and working with brands, so communications and pr is a good fit for me, have you tried doing anything like this Walkerz? I would love to hear how you came about studying the courses you are and what is your end goal or aspirations.

I get asked a lot why I study communications and for me it is pretty simple, how many times have you heard in a conversation and/or from a person/business that a particular point or message was not communicated? while that frustrates the heck out of me, I always think in my head how can that be changed, how can we get the message across loud and clear the first time and not end of up with these problems, when I first started studying the degree I was by no means a great communicator but as the degree has gone on I am finding it is really helping me to open up and communicate more with people and businesses alike

A few things that I have learnt in my course that really sticks out to me is that it is better to blunt and to get your message across than be all nicey nice and completely miss the point completely, but also keeping the message simple and writing simply while as easy as it sounds is a lot harder than it looks but really does help to get your message across a lot better, don't over complicate things by trying to say too much, keeping it clean, clear and crips is really the best,

Going through the degree, as I get to try out lots of different forms of communication, I am finding I am better at some forms of writing rather than others, a pleasant surprise was that I am relatively okay at news writing, I would have never thought that since I have a bad habit of trying to cram too much in the one sentence, if this course has taught me anything is to strip it back my sentences and try to say one ideal per sentence,

But I would have to say the biggest gift this course has given me so far is opening me up as a conversational communicator, I am much better at my conversational communication now compared to when I first started the course, most people that know me in person would say I am not the best or strongest conversationalist, but since progressing in the degree, even though I might not always agree with what the other person is saying, I am really learning to listen, taking stock and responding in a way that keeps the conversation going, in the past I would have said okay and then the convo would be over but now I am more like to ask but why, why do they say that and getting them to elaborate,

I feel like I am becoming more confident now in communicating with others, I am not so afraid, say in live streams or even here on the blog, I am becoming more expressive but more importantly I am taking the chance to just jumping in and to give it a go, sometimes I like to sit and reflect, if I did pipe up and join in the chat, how many good friends and people would I have had missed out on the chance of meeting and striking up a friendship with, by speaking up I met and made some awesome friends along the way and I wouldn't trade them for anything, and to all of them I am super grateful,

It really makes me think of the future and just what good things could happen, by taking some risks I have really gotten to showcase some of my skills and it makes me wonder what I will learn and who will I get to meet in the future, can only think positively, too much negativity will gives you wrinkles, well at least that is how I like to think of it, let's stay positive Walkerz,

Not to say I am always a bright ray of sunshine and super positive but you can only try your best, we all have our negative moments, we just have to fight thru them and try for the best, surround yourself with great people and a lot of love and support and we will be right Walkerz, let's be here for each other, and if anyone is ever finding it tough out there you always more than welcome to reach out to me, I will listen and try to help you the best I can, stay safe Walkerz

That is Wilz for now, travel safely Walkerz, take care and let's keep walking on this journey called life, peace out
