"Fresh back from 2 weeks of travel, with fresh eyes and a refreshed mind, we are ready to take on what the world has to throw at us"

Aioli everyone,

Hope you are all travelling well,

We are back and ready to wreak havoc, fresh from one week in Brisbane and one in Sydney, it was so good to see those cities again but we are ready to get stuck back into things and plan for the next trip,

We haven't travelled that far since covid hit but it was so good to see the big cities again, while it was a lovely little refreshing getaway, we are happy to be back on home turf and ready to reflect on the whole experience,

Thanks to covid, we were initially scared of airports and places with large amounts of people but you honestly can't live your life in fear, you can only prepare yourselves with preventative measures like a mask and some sanitiser, if you lived scared you might as well not even leave home at all,

Our first airport experience, being the Cairns airport was not bad at all, if anything all the staff were super helpful and it was a relaxed chilled atmosphere, being school holidays we made sure to get there early, and we went through the whole check-in process with no issues at all and even had time to catch a meal before our first flight to Brisbane,

If memory serves us right, we had not been to Brisbane since 2019 so to see all the changes since then was amazing, we definitely have to give it to Brisbane, while it is a built-up city, it is still nice to see that is has a lot of green areas and parks to relax in, it defiantly made it a lot more refreshing to explore,

In Brisbane, we stayed at the Oaks on Albert Street, and wow how we were blown away by how big the apartments were, everything was catered for, full kitchen and laundry, it was incredible, and the reception staff were super nice too, there was nothing we could really fault, the apartment had a small balcony that overlooked the hotel pools and we could see right down to Queen Street Mall, it was a great location and on the ground floor there was a Starbucks and a Priceline, we felt super spoilt, it was such a nice spot,

From check out, it was onto Brisbane Airport, and once again we arrived early just to be safe, to pass the time till check-in we relaxed at one of the small cafes, the initial check-in process was all fine, but they had these self-check-in bag drops and for the life of us we couldn't work out how to operate them properly, we were just thankful to have a human there to help us, I get why they had them there but it was after how many attempts they proved to be a pain in the behind,

We can't remember the last time we were in Sydney but wow it never ceases to leave us speechless, the city was just as beautiful as we remembered it, while it doesn't have as many green spaces as Brisbane, the green features they have installed over the years are pure artworks in themselves, we enjoyed how they took small ordinary plants and turned them into something truly special,

In Sydney, we stayed at the Marlow Metro Sydney Central, while it is on the cheaper side of hotels unfortunately it is not somewhere where we would like to stay again, it was our second time staying there and if anything it just got worse, while we don't usually like to speak ill of people and places, but in this case, we feel like we should, just to warn those considering staying there of the things you can expect,

So we were staying on the 6th floor, about halfway up the hotel, and can we just start with the elevators while only a small thing, you could smell each day the different chemicals they used to clean it, once in the room, housekeeping was like a daily game, even though we had 2 single beds in the room with our suitcases at the end of our beds, some days they would give us 2 towels and other days they would only give us one, we were lucky we did pack our own towels, and for the room in general, the walls were paper thin, so even though rooms were separated to a point, if there was any noise, the noise would just go straight through them, along with the noise of the plumbing, it was a defiantly a noisy place, the only real highlight was the reception staff, if we had any questions or queries they tried to help us best they could, credits to them,

But exploring the city during the day was defiantly a highlight, we got to visit some of our favourite haunts in the city, such as Saint Mary's Cathedral, Darling Harbour, Arisun restaurant and the various shopping malls, but we were a bit sad to see Lindt cafe was not in the city anymore, we will miss the chocolates from that place,

But the main part of the trip was to see family and along with the 2 Brad Paisley concerts that we were booked in for, it was beautiful to be reconnected with family along the way, a lot of them we had not seen since before covid, but the concerts were super fun too, in Brisbane we felt like we had the best seats but the Sydney concert was a lot of fun too, for the most part, the setlists were the same with a few exceptions for Sydney, the support acts were McKenzie Porter and Morgan Evans, and they were super awesome to see live too, we strongly urge you all to check out their music,

Back home now in Cairns, it feels so great to be back, we are feeling refreshed and ready to take on whatever the world can throw at us, and prepare for the next trip, whenever that may be, but for now its back to the books and to work,
